Daga Oil Mill

Daga Oil Mill is located at Plot No. 576 on Station Road here in Lasalgaon. If you’ve ever been to this town, you know it’s always moving, especially with all the agriculture around here. The mill is a loud place. There is always the sound of the machinery running and the smell of the seeds being processed. It’s a smell you get used to after a few days, but visitors always notice it right away. We spend our days making sure the machines are oiled and the raw materials are coming in on time. It’s physical work. We wear old clothes because you’re bound to get a bit of oil or dust on you by noon. The office is just a small room at the front where we keep the ledgers. We still use a lot of paper because it feels more reliable than the computer sometimes. My father started this and now we’re just continuing what he did. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to take fancy photos. We just sell to the people we’ve known for decades. Sometimes the harvest is good and we’re very busy, other times it’s slower and we use that time to fix the equipment. It’s a simple life based on the seasons and the market. We don't ask for much, just a steady stream of work and enough to pay the bills. That is how things have always been for us.
