Chankeshwar Adiwasi Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Kalwan, specifically over on Otur road. We use the space at Narayan Mahada Bahiram’s place to run our operations. It is a bit out of the way, but it works fine for what we need. We are just a bunch of local farmers from the Nasik district trying to help each other stay afloat. Farming in this part of the country has its own set of problems, especially with the hills and getting enough water to the right places. Being part of a group like this helps us manage those things a bit better than if we were on our own. We aren’t a big corporation with people wearing suits and ties. Most of us have dirt on our clothes and under our fingernails most of the time. We meet up when we can to discuss what we are going to plant next or how to get our stuff to the market without losing all our money. It’s a very practical setup. We don’t have much in the way of a fancy office, just some basic chairs and a wooden table where we keep our logbooks. We do all the work ourselves, from the heavy lifting out in the fields to the messy paperwork back at the house. It's a slow and steady process, but we are used to that. Being in Kalwan means we know this land really well and just keep working.
