Barnes School has been at Devalai Camp in the Nasik district for a very long time. You can see the hills from the playground and the air feels a bit different up here than it does in the main city. Most days it is just the sound of children running on the grass or the wind hitting the old stone buildings. These buildings have seen a lot of students come and go over the years and they have a lot of character. Some of the teachers have been working here since they were young themselves. It is not a fancy place with high-tech gadgets in every corner, but the desks are sturdy and the classrooms get plenty of natural light. Parents usually know us because their own parents went here back in the day. That is just how it is in this part of Nasik. We spend a lot of time making sure the grounds are kept up. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby hills come around and cause a bit of trouble during the lunch break. It is just part of the daily routine. We do not really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just find us through word of mouth. The morning assembly happens on the big ground and you can hear the singing from the main road. After school finishes, it gets real quiet again until the next morning. It is a comfortable, traditional place for kids to learn.
