Athrav Tea House

Out here at Plot No 148 in the Sanap Complex, things move at their own pace. Manmad is a place that people mostly know for the railway junction, but for us, it’s just home. Being in Nashik district means we are surrounded by people who really know their drinks. The Sanap Complex is a decent enough building, though it gets quite hot in the afternoons. We have the tea house set up so that we can handle the stock coming in and out without too much trouble. It’s not a place with soft chairs or music; it’s more of a functional space for tea trading. We spend our mornings checking the latest batches that have arrived. The smell of the dry leaves is the first thing you notice when you walk into Plot 148. Some days we have people dropping by just to see what’s new, and other days it’s just us and the ledger books. We don’t really bother with fancy advertisements because word of mouth in Manmad is usually enough. People know where the Sanap Complex is and they know we are there with the tea. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We just try to keep things organized, which isn't always easy when you have dozens of different tea types to keep track of. But we get it done and then start again the next morning.
