Ptjm Saraswati Vidya Mandir

We are located right along National Highway 82 in Rajgir. Ptjm Saraswati Vidya Mandir is easy to find because of its position on the main road. The area is a bit more open than the crowded cities. You can see the hills in the distance on clear days. The school building is a solid structure with a lot of open space around it. We have a big yard where the students gather every morning. It’s a bit of a trek for some of the kids who come from the smaller villages nearby. They often arrive in shared autos or on cycles. We have a very set routine here. It starts with a prayer and then everyone goes to their assigned rooms. The classrooms are simple with big windows to let in the natural light. We don't have many modern luxuries. The benches are made of wood and can be a bit hard to sit on for long hours. We have a small library but it’s mostly full of old textbooks and some stories. The teachers are mostly people from the local area. We all know each other’s families. It makes the school feel more like a community. We have to deal with the dust from the highway, so cleaning is a never-ending job. It’s a quiet life here in Rajgir, and we just focus on getting through the school year one day at a time. Every evening, we lock up the gate and head home as the traffic on the highway slows down.
