Asha Memorial School

Asha Memorial School is located on Kachari Road in Biharsharif. If you know the Nalanda district, you know this is a busy part of town with a lot of people moving around. The school has been here for years, sitting right among the other buildings and shops. It’s not a fancy place with a big lawn. Instead, it’s a functional building where every bit of space is used for something. We have classrooms that are often packed with students who come from the nearby neighborhoods. The teachers are local people who know the kids and their families quite well. Sometimes the noise from the street comes into the classrooms, but we’ve all gotten used to it. We have a small office where the principal sits and deals with all the paperwork. The benches in the classes are a bit old and have some scratches on them, but they still do the job. During the break, the kids gather in the corridors or the small open area we have. They eat their lunches and talk loudly. We try to keep things organized, but it’s a school, so there’s always a bit of mess. We focus on teaching the basic subjects and getting the kids ready for their exams. There aren't many frills here. We don't have a big bus fleet; most kids just walk or get dropped off by their parents. It’s a simple, honest school that has been serving the local community for a long time. It feels like home to us.
