Dav Progressive School

We’ve been running Dav Progressive School for quite some time now over on Arya Samaj Road. If you know Hilsa, you know this part of town gets fairly busy during the mornings when everyone is heading to work or dropping their kids off. Our building is a simple one, nothing too flashy, but it does the job for the students who come here every day. Most of the people working here are locals who have lived in this area their whole lives. We have a few classrooms, some desks that have seen better days, and a small area where the kids can run around during their breaks. It is mostly quiet once the lessons start, except for the occasional sound of a rickshaw passing by outside on the road. We don’t really do much fancy stuff here. It is just about getting through the lessons and making sure the children have a place to sit and learn their subjects. Some of the windows don't close quite right, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint next summer if we get the time. We just try to keep things organized as much as possible. It is a lot of paperwork and making sure the registers are filled out correctly every morning. You see the same faces every day, both the parents and the kids, which makes it feel like a regular part of the neighborhood life here in Hilsa.
