Maa Guru Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our small office is based at Damodar Pandey’s house in Garhanitola-Garhani. If you know the Garhani block, you know it’s mostly just fields and small clusters of houses. We are one of those clusters. Being a farmer producer company sounds like a big title, but for us, it just means we are a bunch of neighbors trying to sell our crops together. We spend most of our days out in the fields and only come back to the village to handle the business side of things. There’s a lot of talking involved, mostly about who has what ready for harvest and how we can get it to the market without spending too much on fuel. It’s a simple setup. We don't have any flashy signs or a big website. Most people just walk over to Damodar’s place when they have a question. We deal with the usual stuff like wheat and rice, depending on what the weather allows. It’s hard work, especially when the rains are late or the pests get into the crops. We try to help each other out with seeds and advice when we can. It’s not a perfect system, and we are still learning how to run a proper company, but we are getting there. It feels better working as a group than trying to fight the market all by ourselves. We are just local people doing what we know best in our own village.
