Rutuja Beauty Parlor

I run Rutuja Beauty Parlor out of the Savitribai Fule Jadu Mahel area here in Nagpur. It isn't a massive place with glass walls or anything fancy like that. It is just a small room where I help the local women with their hair and basic beauty stuff. I started this because I needed something to do and I’ve always been okay at doing braids and threading. Most of my customers are women from the nearby houses who have known me for years. We talk about our families and the neighborhood while I work. It’s more like visiting a friend's house than going to a business. I have a few posters on the wall showing different styles, though most people just want the same thing every time. The lighting isn't the best, so I have to use a lamp when I'm doing the fine work. I try to keep the place smelling nice with some incense, but sometimes the smell of the hair chemicals is stronger. It is a simple life and a simple shop. I don't have a website or anything. People just hear about me from their neighbors and walk in. I don't always keep strict hours; if I have to go to the market, I just lock the door for an hour. That’s how things work around here. It’s just me doing my bit in this part of Nagpur. My daughter helps me on Sundays.
