Ramkrupa Hair Saloon

You can find us at Ramkrupa Hair Saloon, which is located at 316 Jain Marg in the Sadar Bazar area of Nagpur. The locals often call this specific spot Toota Bagicha. Being in Sadar means there is always a lot of noise and people walking around outside our door. It is one of the oldest parts of the city. The shop is small and tucked away, but we have been here long enough that people know where to look. I took over the shop from my father, and I still use some of the same techniques he taught me. We have two chairs and a small mirror for each. It’s mostly men and boys from the nearby houses who come in for their monthly trim. Because we are near the market, we sometimes get shoppers who just want to sit down and get a quick shave while their wives are busy buying groceries. The shop smells like a mix of talcum powder and the tea we brew in the back. We don't have any big advertisements or flashy lights. The floor is made of old tiles that are easy to clean after a long day of work. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so the door stays open to catch whatever breeze comes off the street. It’s just a small, honest business where we do our work and talk with the neighbors about how the city is changing. I like being here.
