Priti Beauty Home Services is based out of Trimurti Nagar in Nagpur, but I don’t actually have a big shop where people come to sit. Instead, I spend most of my day traveling around the 440022 area with my bag of supplies. It started because a lot of women in this part of town find it hard to leave the house with kids or work, so I decided to go to them. My bag is getting a bit heavy these days with all the creams, waxes, and scissors, but I’ve gotten used to carrying it. I usually take the local transport or a scooter to get to the different houses in Trimurti Nagar. Every home is different. Sometimes I’m working in a small kitchen corner, and other times I’m in a big living room. It’s a very personal way to work because I get to know the families and see how they live. We talk about their kids and what they are cooking for dinner while I do their hair or a facial. It’s not like a regular salon where everything is sterile and quiet. There is always a TV on in the background or someone's doorbell ringing. I like the flexibility of it, even if my back hurts a bit at the end of the day from bending over. It’s just me doing this, trying to earn a living by helping the ladies in Nagpur look their best without them having to travel far from home.
