Pravin Salon

Pravin Salon is located out in Mahalgaon, near Nagpur. It’s a bit different out here compared to the main city center. Things move a little slower, which is fine by us. The shop is a simple building where we’ve set up our chairs and mirrors. Every day starts early before the sun gets too high and the heat really kicks in. We open the doors and let the breeze through if there is one. Mahalgaon is a place where everyone knows everyone else. When someone walks into the salon, we usually know their name or at least who their family is. We don't have any of those modern gadgets you see in the big city shops. We rely on good scissors, a steady hand, and a sharp razor. The floor is concrete and we sweep it often. Sometimes we sit outside on a bench when it's quiet. Nagpur can get very hot, so the shade in the shop is always welcome. We keep the water jars filled and the combs in the cleaning solution. It’s a basic life here. Customers come in for a trim or a shave, and we talk about the crops or the local news. There isn't much to complain about. We’ve been at this for a while and the people in Mahalgaon seem to like having a place close by. It’s just Pravin Salon, nothing more and nothing less. We do our work and go home to our families when the sun sets.
