P R Salon

P R Salon is another small shop located in the Mahalgaon area of Nagpur. I have been working here for a few years now, and it has become a steady part of my life. Mahalgaon is a small place, so word of mouth is how most people find out about us. I don't have a phone or a computer in the shop, so people just walk in whenever they need a trim. The setup is very basic. I have a good sturdy chair and a large mirror that I keep as clean as I can. My tools are kept in a wooden box that I’ve had since I started learning the trade. A lot of the older men in the village come to me for a shave every few days. We sit and talk about how things used to be or what the weather is going to do to the crops. It is a very relaxed environment. I don't have any fancy lights or music, just the sounds of the village coming through the open door. Sometimes a goat or a dog wanders near the entrance, and we just shoo them away. I take my time with each person because there is no reason to rush. When the wedding season comes around, I am much busier, but usually, it is just a few people a day. It is a simple life running a small salon in a place like this, and it suits me just fine. I don't think I'd want to be anywhere else.
