Jaan Salon

Jaan Salon is a little place on Rameshwari Road in the Parvati Nagar section of Nagpur. We are situated near Deshmukh Clinic, which is where most people look for us when they are coming for the first time. The shop is pretty simple. We have the mirrors on one side and some chairs for people to wait on the other. It’s not a very big room, so it feels quite full even with just a few people inside. We’ve got the usual things you’d expect—clippers, scissors, and different kinds of combs. The street outside, Rameshwari Road, is always moving with people and scooters. We keep the door open most of the time to get a breeze, even though it brings in a bit of noise. The neighborhood is mostly families and working people, so those are the faces we see every day. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a local salon where you can get a decent haircut without spending too much. The light is okay during the day, but we have some bright tubes for the evening hours. Sometimes we have the cricket match on the radio if there's a game going. It’s a relaxed atmosphere, nothing like those expensive places in the big shopping centers. We just focus on the work and the people who have been coming to us for years.
