Darpan Beauty Parlours

Running Darpan Beauty Parlours on Ring Road in the Parvati Nagar area means there is never a dull moment. Being near Rameshwari, we get a lot of people just passing through or coming in after they finish their shopping nearby. The noise from the traffic on Ring Road is something you just get used to after a week or so of working here. Our place isn't very large, but we made sure to put in some good mirrors because that is what the name Darpan is all about. We have a few stations set up for hair and skin work, and there is always a stack of old magazines for people to look at while they wait their turn. The floors are tile, which makes it easier to sweep up all the hair at the end of the night. We aren't trying to be like those big shops in the malls; we just want to be a place where the local women feel okay coming in with their kids or after a long day at work. Sometimes the electricity acts up and we have to rely on the natural light from the front window, but we manage just fine. We have a small sink in the back and a stove for making tea when friends drop by to say hello. It feels more like a home than a business sometimes, which is exactly how we like it to be here in Nagpur.
