Apsara Saloon

Down here at Ram Cooler Square in the Mahal area of Nagpur, things are always moving. Our shop is right on New Shukrawari Road. It’s a busy part of the 440032 zip code. Apsara Saloon has been in this spot for a while now. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the name on the front. Every morning, we unlock the door and get things ready for whoever might stop by. The heat in Nagpur can be something else, so the fan is always running. We have a few old chairs where people sit while they wait their turn. Most of our customers are folks who live nearby or work in the shops around Mahal. We talk about the cricket scores or the price of vegetables while we work. It’s a simple atmosphere. There isn't any loud music or bright lights. It’s just a normal place where you can get your hair cut without a lot of trouble. We keep the scissors sharp and the water spray bottles full. Sometimes the traffic outside at the square gets so loud we have to raise our voices to be heard. We’ve grown used to the noise over the years. We aren't trying to be the most modern shop in town. We just provide a place for people to come in, sit down for a few minutes, and leave looking a bit better than they did when they walked in.
