Rana Royals Girls College, Borawar

Out on Sabalpur Road in Borawar, you’ll find our college. It’s a place for girls from around this part of Rajasthan. We started this because there wasn't much else for them nearby. The building is plain, made of stone and concrete to keep out the heat. It gets very hot here in the summer. We have classrooms and a small library. It's not like the big universities in the cities. We are more local. The students come from the surrounding villages. They often travel quite a bit to get here. We see them arriving in groups every morning. We don't put on any acts. We just provide the space and the teachers. The office is usually cluttered with files and registers. That's just how we work. Rana Royals Girls College is about giving these young women a chance to study. We have our struggles, like slow internet or dust blowing in from the road. But the staff and students are used to it. We keep things moving. There is a sense of purpose without being loud about it. We sit together during breaks and talk about local news. It’s a community effort to keep the place going. We don't have a marketing budget. Word of mouth is how people hear about us. It’s just how things are done here. We keep our focus on the lessons and the exams each year.
