Namco Suyambu Farmers Producer Company Limited is run from that small space. Being in Vedaranyam Taluk, specifically in Nagapattinam, means we are used to the coastal air and the specific challenges of this region. It’s a bit of a climb to get up there, but it’s where we keep all the records for our farmer members. We aren't some big corporation from the city. We are just local people who grew up here. Most of the time, someone is up there drinking tea and looking over the accounts. We talk a lot about what the farmers need and how we can get things moving. The post office building is a landmark around here, so everyone knows where to find us. It’s a practical arrangement. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because that's not what we are about. We are about the day-to-day work of farming. Nagapattinam is a tough place to farm sometimes, so having this collective helps everyone stay on their feet. If you drop by, you’ll probably find a few of us discussing the next harvest or the price of supplies. It is just a real, local operation run by people who know the ground. Working from the upstairs office gives us a bit of a view of the street below, which is nice.
