We have been here in Bharra for a long time now. The office is right in the village, not too far from the post office. It is a quiet spot most days, though it gets a bit busy when the trucks come through Chas. Most of us who work here live nearby in Bokaro district. We do not have a big, fancy building with glass walls. It is just a regular place where we get the paperwork done. The roads leading up here can be a bit rough, especially after the rain, so you have to drive slow. We spend a lot of our day just checking files and making sure things are moving along. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoons and we just sit and wait for it to come back on. It is not like the big offices you see in the city. We know all the neighbors and they know us. We do not use any big corporate words or anything like that. We just focus on the tasks we have for the day. It gets quite dusty in the summer months and we have to keep the windows shut. We have some old wooden desks and chairs that have been here for years. It is a simple life and we just do our part.
