This is Satish Kumar’s place, over in Mithanpura. We are located near Durga Asthan in Muzaffarpur. My father, Mr. Madan Thakur, has been in this area for a long time. It’s a very local setup. We don't have a big sign or a fancy lobby. It’s basically just a room where we handle our business affairs. Bihar can be a tough place to work sometimes because of the heat and the power cuts, but we make it work. We have a backup battery for the computers, though it hums quite loudly. Mostly, we are just managing local tasks. It’s a very direct way of working. There are no layers of management here. If you need to talk to someone, you just talk to us. The streets outside are usually full of people and rickshaws. It can be quite loud during the festivals because the temple is so close. We have lived and worked here for years. We aren't looking to expand into some giant company. We just want to keep things running well for the folks who rely on us. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We keep track of everything in our notebooks and on the old PC. It’s honest and it’s how we have always done things. Sometimes we sit outside on the porch when the electricity goes out just to catch a bit of air.
