Mahamaya Bricks

We've been out here in Lakhari for a while now. Most people around Shamli know where the kiln is located. It gets quite hot and dusty during the season, but that is just part of the job when you are making bricks. We keep the yard organized so the trucks can get in and out without getting stuck in the mud when it rains. The soil around this part of the village is good for the mix, which really helps the process. It is a lot of manual labor, honestly. You have to watch the weather constantly because a sudden downpour ruins everything before it even gets to the kiln. We usually have a crew working early mornings before the sun gets too high in the sky. If you are coming from the main part of the tehsil, you just follow the road out toward the post office and keep going. Most days you will find someone at the site from dawn until the light fades. We do not have a fancy office or anything like that, just a small space to keep the records and talk to people who drop by. The stack of finished bricks is usually pretty high this time of year unless a big order just left. We try to keep things moving. It isn't a complicated business, but it keeps us busy every single day. You learn a lot about the dirt and the fire when you do this long enough.
