Kumar Brick Field

We operate out of Shivlok Colony, right off Jansath Road at number 299. This is basically a brick-making business. If you walk around the area, you’ll see the stacks of bricks we’ve been working on. It is very much outdoors work. We depend a lot on the weather because if it rains too much, we can't dry the bricks properly. It’s a simple process but it takes a lot of time and muscle. My family has been doing this kind of thing for a while. We don't have a big corporate office. Instead, we have a small desk where we keep the ledger and talk to people who need supplies for their houses or walls. Jansath Road is always busy with tractors and trucks. Sometimes people just stop by because they saw the sign. We try to keep a good stock ready, but during the building season, things move pretty fast. The ground is usually red from the clay we use. It gets under your fingernails and stays there. During the summer months, the heat out here on Jansath Road is pretty intense, but that’s when the bricks dry the fastest. We have a small shed where we keep some cold water and take breaks. It's a lot of heavy lifting, and my back usually aches by the time the sun goes down. But there is something nice about seeing a row of fresh bricks. We don't use any fancy machines, just the old-fashioned way that's been working for generations. It is steady, honest work that keeps us busy from dawn to dusk.
