Raja Plastic

Raja Plastic is based out here in Umarpur, near the Ghorshala post office. Being in the Raghunathganj area means we know most of the people around here pretty well. We started this shop because we wanted to work for ourselves instead of traveling far away for jobs. It’s a modest setup. We have a few machines that we bought second-hand, and they still run okay if you know how to fix them when they act up. My cousin helps me with the maintenance and the heavy lifting. We make plastic goods that the local farmers and householders use every day. It’s quiet in this part of the district, except for when we’re running the full production line. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff. Most of our business comes from word of mouth in the village and surrounding towns. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to sit outside and wait for it to come back on before we can finish the batches. It gives us a chance to have some tea and talk to the neighbors. We try to be fair with everyone who comes in. The floor is usually covered in some scraps, but we sweep up every evening before locking up the gate. It’s just us doing what we can with what we have here.
