Working up on the 22nd floor of Yes Bank Tower in Elphinstone West is a bit different from the street-level shops. We are in IFC2, right on Senapati Bapat Marg. It’s a busy area with a lot of people rushing around in suits and carrying laptops. Even though it is a big building, the day-to-day feels pretty routine for those of us working here. You spend a lot of time waiting for elevators and looking out the windows at the city below. From this high up, you can see the trains moving and the traffic crawling along the main road. The office is mostly just rows of desks and people on phones or typing away. We go by Yes Bank Ltd., and while it is a big name, the actual work is just us dealing with numbers and paperwork all day. It gets a bit cold because of the air conditioning, so most of us have a sweater at our desks. We usually go down to the lower floors or nearby stalls for a quick bite or some coffee. It is a very structured environment, totally different from the markets or industrial estates. You don’t get the same kind of grit here, but it has its own kind of stress. We just keep things moving and try to finish our tasks before the evening rush starts at the station. It is a lot of glass and steel, but the people inside are just trying to get through the day.
