We are located at Juhu 39, which is a pretty well-known part of the city. Being in Juhu means things are always moving around us, with lots of people and cars going by. The salon itself is a modest space where we do hair and other basic stuff. It’s not one of those high-end places you see in magazines; it’s more of a local spot where people feel comfortable dropping in. We have our regulars who have been coming for years, and we know exactly how they like their hair done. The space is filled with the smell of shampoo and the sound of blow-dryers going throughout the day. We keep things simple and don't try to be something we aren't. There’s usually some chatter going on between the staff and the customers, which makes the long hours go by faster. On rainy days, it’s a bit of a refuge from the Mumbai weather outside, even if the roof leaks a tiny bit near the door. We’ve got a few chairs and some mirrors, and that’s about it for the setup. It’s our workplace and we take care of it as best as we can. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or the electricity flickers, but we just deal with it and keep working. People know where to find us. It’s just a small business trying to do right by the folks in the neighborhood. We show up every day, open the shutters, and wait for the day to start as the sun comes up.
