Yadav Roadlines

We are over in Andheri East, right off the Old Mumbai road. This is where we run our transport business. It is not a fancy office, just a room with a couple of desks, a lot of logbooks, and a phone that never stops ringing. We have trucks moving in and out at all hours, carrying all sorts of goods across the city and sometimes further out. Dealing with the traffic in Andheri is the biggest part of the job. Most of my time is spent talking to drivers on the mobile and checking where the loads are. There are always papers to sign and permits to check. It gets quite dusty here with all the heavy vehicles passing by. We have some plastic chairs for the drivers to sit on while they wait for their next assignment. It is a rough kind of business, not like working in a bank. We have to deal with breakdowns, road closures, and late deliveries every week. My family has been doing this for a long time, so we know the routes pretty well. We don't have a website or a big logo on the wall. It is just the name Yadav on the door and a lot of work to get through. We just try to keep the trucks moving and the customers from complaining too much about the delays. It's a busy life here in this part of Mumbai, but we make do.
