Indo Bangla Road Carrier

The office is down at Dana Bunder, number 402 at 57/59. It’s an old part of the city, and you can feel it in the walls and the narrow streets. We handle a lot of road transport stuff, particularly things moving between here and the border. The air always smells a bit like salt and exhaust fumes from the docks. Inside, we have some old wooden desks and a few fans that hum all day long. We spend a lot of time checking manifests and talking to people about routes. It’s not a glamorous job. There is a lot of waiting for trucks to clear or for paperwork to be stamped by the right people. We often have drivers sitting in the hallway waiting for their next assignment. We know most of them by name and know whose truck has the bad engine or who likes to drive through the night. Indo Bangla Road Carrier is a place where we just get on with it. We don't have any shiny signs or carpeted floors. The floor is just stone and gets dusty by noon every day. We usually have a radio playing somewhere in the background, mostly just for some noise while we work through the stacks of papers. It’s a busy life, and the phone doesn’t stop much, but it’s what keeps the business going in this corner of the city. We just focus on the loads and the roads, making sure everything is where it should be.
