Wonder Cuts

Started at Phoenix building a while back. We are up on the fifth floor, office number six to be exact. It’s a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens sometimes. S.V.P. Road is always busy outside, so it’s actually quieter up here than you’d expect for Prathana Samaj. We have the usual chairs and mirrors set up. Mostly, we just spend our time with scissors and combs. People come in from the neighborhood, some have been coming for years now. We don’t really do anything fancy with the decor, just the basics that we need to get the job done. Sometimes the floor gets covered in hair faster than we can sweep it, especially on Saturday afternoons. We have a small window that looks out over the street, but we don't look out of it much when we are busy. It’s just a regular place where people sit down and wait their turn. We keep some old magazines on the table, though nobody really reads them anymore because everyone is on their phones now. The lights are bright because you need to see what you are doing. We’ve got a couple of sinks in the back for washing. It is just us here most days, working through the list of people who walk through the door. We usually have the radio on in the background, playing some local hits or the news while we work.
