Watermelon The Kids Saloon Malad W is situated right in the heart of Mumbai and it stays busy from the moment we open the doors. Being in Malad West means there are always families around and we see a lot of them coming in on the weekends especially. The shop is designed specifically for children so it is not like your typical quiet barber shop. There are toys and books everywhere and the chairs are made to look like little vehicles that the kids can sit in. We have to be very patient because kids move their heads at the wrong time or start crying as soon as they see the clippers. The noise level is usually pretty high with children talking and the sounds from the toys. We have a few staff members who are good at talking to the little ones to keep them distracted while we work on their hair. The floor is made of easy-to-clean material because juice gets spilled and hair gets tracked everywhere throughout the day. It is a very active place and we are always on our feet moving from one kid to the next. Mumbai life is fast and parents usually want to get the haircut over with so they can get on with their day. We try to keep things moving along without rushing the kids too much. It is a messy fun and loud way to spend the work day.
