Waste Matters Foundation

We are over here in Mahim, right in the middle of everything on Senapati Bapat Marg. Our office is in the Famous Cine Building, which is a pretty well-known spot if you know the area. We’ve got space on the first floor, rooms 121 and 122. It gets noisy with all the traffic outside, but we like being where the action is. Most days we are just busy figuring out waste stuff. It isn’t glamorous work, but someone has to do it. We spent a lot of time looking at piles of things people throw away and trying to find a better place for it all. The building is a bit older, so the hallways have that specific smell and feel. We started out small and stayed that way, mostly because we just want to focus on the work itself. Mumbai generates so much trash every single hour, it’s hard to keep up. We have a small team here. Sometimes the elevators are slow, so we take the stairs. Being in Plot 424 B means we are close to the station too. We don't have fancy furniture or anything like that. Just desks, computers, and a lot of lists of what needs to be moved where. People stop by sometimes to ask what we do, and we just tell them we handle waste. It’s a job like any other, just a bit messier sometimes. We’ve been at this for a while now in this part of town.
