Vishal Engineering Co is based in a room on the second floor of a building on Narayan Dhuru Street. The address is 123 Masjid, and if you know this part of the city, you know it’s packed with hardware shops and wholesalers. We are in Room No 10, which involves climbing up some narrow stairs that have been there for decades. The office smells a bit like metal and old paper, which is how an engineering place should be, I guess. We deal with various parts and mechanical things that most people wouldn't recognize. Our desks are usually covered in blueprints and small metal components that we’re checking for quality. It’s not a place for anyone who likes a quiet, sterile environment. The street outside is always full of handcarts and people shouting, which you can hear even through the windows. We’ve been here for quite some time now, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of Masjid Bunder. We aren't doing anything revolutionary; we’re just making sure the engineering specs are right and the orders get shipped out. It’s a lot of manual checking and phone calls. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It's just a small group of us making sure the job gets done properly every single day without failing anyone who relies on us.
