Visawa Restaurant

We are located over on M.C. Kelbar Road in Dadar at the Visawa Restaurant. If you know Mumbai, you know Dadar is one of the busiest places you can find. It’s always crowded and there’s always something going on outside our door. Our place is a bit of a tight squeeze, but that’s just how things are in this part of the city. We’ve been here at the 400028 address for a long time. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the pace of the street. We see hundreds of people walking past every hour. Some stop in for a quick snack and others want a full meal. We don't have a lot of staff, so everyone has to do a bit of everything. I’m often behind the counter and then cleaning tables five minutes later. The noise from the trains and the buses is constant, but you stop hearing it after a while. We don't have a big menu. We just stick to what we know how to make. The kitchen gets incredibly hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months. We just keep the fans going and keep moving. It’s not a place for a long, slow dinner. It’s a Dadar place—fast and a bit cramped. But we like the energy of it. It’s been our family’s main thing for years. We just show up every morning and open the shutters and see who comes in today. It keeps us on our toes.
