Being right next to the Goregaon East station at 6/A Surve Industrial Estate means we hear every train that goes by. Our workshop is on Sonawala Cross Road, and it is a pretty loud place to spend the day. You can always hear the sound of metal being cut or a machine hum in the background. The floor is covered in small metal bits and some oil patches, which is normal for an engineering shop. We don't have a clean, quiet office for guests to sit in. If someone comes by, we usually just talk to them right there at the workbench with tools in our hands. We do a lot of custom engineering work and repairs on different parts. Some days we are welding until it gets dark because a customer needs something fixed for their factory the next morning. We don't have any HR people or a PR department. It is just the workers in the back and a few of us managing the orders. We usually have grease on our clothes by noon. The Mumbai humidity makes the shop feel a bit heavy, but we keep the large doors open for the breeze. We have been here in this estate for many years. People know that if they have a mechanical issue, they can bring it here and we will take a look at it. We don't make big promises.
