Damanganga Garments

Our workspace is up on the 4th floor of Solaris1. If you know Andheri East, you know Saki Vihar Road can get pretty packed with traffic during the day. We are in the D-wing, right inside the Rajasthan Textile Mill area. Damanganga Garments is basically a place where we get together and handle a lot of sewing and packing. It gets loud with all the machines running at once, but we are used to it by now. The floor is usually covered in scrap fabric and thread by the afternoon. We spend most of our time making sure the orders are ready on time. It is a lot of back-and-forth between the cutting tables and the ironing boards. Sometimes the elevators are slow, so we end up waiting around with rolls of cloth. It’s hard work, but it pays the bills. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a practical setup for making clothes. We’ve been in this spot for a bit and know the other folks in the building. Being in the D-wing means we have a bit of our own corner. People come by to drop off materials or pick up finished boxes. It’s a busy life here in Andheri. We just focus on the task at hand and try to get through the day’s list. Sometimes we take a break for tea and then get right back to the needles and thread.
