Veena Knitting Industries

Our place is located at No. 56/ 3 Shamseth Street. If you’re looking for us, we are right next to the Sangam Hotel, which is a big landmark for people who aren't from around here. Veena Knitting Industries has been operating out of this spot for quite some time. The street is usually crowded with vendors and traffic, so getting things in and out can be a bit of a headache. Inside, the machines make a lot of noise. It’s a constant rhythmic sound that you eventually get used to. We do a lot of knitting work here. The floors are usually covered in bits of yarn and thread by the end of the shift. We clean it up, but by the next afternoon, it looks exactly the same again. Working in the garment district means there is always something happening. We spend our mornings checking the tension on the needles and making sure the thread isn't snapping. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes silent, which feels weird. Then we just wait for it to come back on. We aren't a massive factory, just a group of people getting the work done. The space is a bit cramped because we have a lot of materials stacked up against the walls. We don't have a front desk or a receptionist. Usually, if someone walks in, they just talk to whoever is closest to the door. That's just how we do things.
