Ultra Chemical

Ultra Chemical is over in Masjid Bunder West, specifically in the Sabun Bhavan building on S Devji Street. Our unit is 187/9. This building, Sabun Bhavan, has been around for ages and it houses many similar small businesses. The stairs are quite narrow and you'll always see people moving heavy drums and wooden crates up and down between the floors. Our space is filled with containers of all different sizes and types. It’s a very practical work environment, not something meant for looking pretty or hosting visitors. There is always a bit of a chemical scent lingering in the air, which we have all gotten used to by now. S Devji Street is always packed with heavy traffic, so getting deliveries in or out requires a lot of patience and good timing. We spend most of our day answering the old landline or checking the stock levels in the back. It’s a small operation with only a few people. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. People find us because they know the building or they’ve been told about us by someone else in the chemical trade. The desk is very old and there are stacks of paper invoices everywhere. We try to keep things moving as fast as possible, but in this part of Mumbai, everything takes a bit longer because of the constant crowds. We’ve been here through many seasons, and the daily routine stays mostly the same. We open up, check the orders, and start the day’s work in the middle of all the noise.
