Udipi Krishna Veg Wonders

Our restaurant is located on Dr Ambedkar Road in Byculla, right across the street from the Byculla railway station. Being in Mumbai, and especially right by a station, means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the trains arriving and the announcements from the platform all day. We get a huge mix of people coming through our doors. Some are commuters in a big hurry, and others are locals who live in the old buildings nearby. The restaurant is quite narrow, so we have to be careful with how we move around. We have a counter where people can stand and eat quickly if the tables are full. We don't have any fancy lights or soft chairs. It’s all very basic because we want to keep things affordable for everyone. The walls have some old tiles that are a bit chipped here and there. We've thought about fixing them, but we are always too busy serving people. The monsoon season is always a challenge because the water collects on the road outside, but we keep the door open. Our staff works in shifts and they are used to the fast pace. We don't do any delivery or have a mobile app. We just focus on the people who walk in from the street. It’s a hectic life in Byculla, but we are used to it after all these years. We just keep the tea hot and the kitchen moving.
