Tropical Industries

You can find us at No. 11 in the Udyog Mandir Estate. We are right on Uma Maheshwari Road, which connects over toward the Jari Mari area and the main Kurla-Andheri Road. It is a very industrial spot, as you might guess from the name of the estate. There are workshops and small factories all around us. Tropical Industries isn't a big place, just a solid unit where we handle our manufacturing work. The traffic on Andheri Road is usually a nightmare during rush hour, so we try to get our deliveries in early. The sounds of machinery from the neighboring units are something you just stop hearing after a few weeks of working here. Our space is filled with tools and materials, and there is barely enough room to turn around sometimes. We have a small desk tucked in the corner for the phone and the ledger. It gets dusty, especially when the wind kicks up from the main road. The workers usually grab tea from the stall just outside the estate gates. It is a very basic way of working, but it has been effective for us. We don't have a fancy showroom or a reception area. If someone comes by, they usually just talk to us right on the floor. It is just how we earn a living in a busy part of Mumbai. We’ve been here for many years now.
