Tokyo Time

The shop is located at Yogeshware Estate in Kandivali West. We’ve been here at A E C Amraiwadi Road for quite a while now. Tokyo Time is basically just a place full of clocks and watches of all sorts. You can hear the ticking as soon as you step inside. It’s a bit of a strange sound if you aren't used to it. The address is number 1, so we are easy to find. The shelves are packed. I spend a lot of time just cleaning the glass cases because they get fingerprints so fast. It's a small shop and the lighting is a bit yellow. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the tools. Most people come in because they need a battery changed or a strap fixed. We don't do anything fancy. The street outside is usually crowded, especially in the evenings. Sometimes people just stop by to check the time against our wall clocks. It’s a simple life here. We open up in the morning, dust everything off, and wait for the first customer. There's always some project on the workbench that's taking longer than expected. It’s just how it is with tiny gears and springs. We’ve seen a lot of different people over the years. Some are regulars who have lived in Kandivali their whole lives. We just keep the clocks running. It gets quite warm in the afternoons when the sun hits the front window. We have a small fan that rattles a bit. It feels right that way.
