The Green Thumb

You can find us at Kannamwar Nagar 1 in Vikhroli East. We’re part of the Consumers Cooperative Society near Kinnari Hall. The Green Thumb isn't one of those expensive boutiques with glass walls. We have pots of all sizes piled up and bags of soil stacked near the entrance. It’s usually a bit muddy on the floor because we’re always watering something. We spend our days pruning, repotting, and trying to keep the bugs away from the saplings. It’s quiet here compared to the main road, which is nice. We don't have a big philosophy or anything. We just like plants and know which ones grow well in this Mumbai heat. People from the neighborhood drop by to ask why their money plant is dying or to buy a bag of fertilizer. We have dirt under our nails most of the time. The small shed we use for storage is a bit disorganized, but we know where the trowels are. Sometimes we forget to update the price tags on the new pots. It's just a few of us working here. We don't use fancy labels or have a big sign. We just keep the plants healthy and wait for the next person to walk in. It gets busy on Sunday mornings when everyone is home. The rest of the week, it’s just us and the green stuff.
