The Amritsar Transport Co Pvt Ltd is based in Mehboob Chambers on Ardeshi Dady Street in Dongri. If you know Dongri, you know the streets are narrow and always full of life. It’s a bit of a squeeze for the bigger vehicles, but we make it work. Our office in Mehboob Chambers is an old-school kind of place. We’ve got heavy wooden desks and filing cabinets that have been here since the start. There’s usually a lot of paper moving around—bills, receipts, and logs. It’s a noisy neighborhood, with vendors calling out and the sound of the city right outside the window. We spend a lot of time on the phone, checking on where things are. It’s a lot of coordination. The building itself has a lot of history. The walls have some cracks and the ceiling fans creak a bit when they’re on high, but it’s got character. We don’t really do much in the way of modern office design. It’s a functional space for a transport business. We’ve got a small area where drivers can sit and wait while we sort out the paperwork. It’s a busy environment, and things can get a bit frantic during the peak hours. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a long time, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit around us. It’s just a regular day of work for us. The stairs in Mehboob Chambers are made of stone and have worn down in the middle from all the years of people walking up. We keep a pot of tea going in the afternoons.
