Moving houses in Mumbai is a real headache. We see it every single day here at Shayam Kunj. We started this work in Kandivali West because there were always people shifting around this side of the city. Most of our morning starts with checking the trucks. We make sure we have enough bubble wrap and brown tape. It’s messy work. Your hands get dusty. The tape is always getting stuck to everything. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a shop where we keep the packing materials and where the boys meet up before going to a job site. Sometimes a job takes five hours. Sometimes it takes ten if the elevators aren't working. Or if the stairs are too narrow. We have seen all kinds of apartments and offices. It gets loud when we are loading the vans near Shop No 6. The neighbors sometimes complain about the noise. That’s just how the logistics business works. We just focus on getting the boxes from one place to another without breaking things. It’s a lot of physical labor. The Mumbai humidity doesn't help much either. We usually eat our lunch late in the afternoon once the main loading is done. It isn't a glamorous job but it keeps us busy. The phones are usually ringing with people asking about rates. There is always someone moving in this city. It keeps us on our feet.
