Textrade

We have been here at Ramnath Pathak Chawl in Koldongeri for a while now. It’s right off Sahar Road in Andheri East, so it stays pretty busy outside most days. Most people know the area because it’s so close to the airport and the main stations, which makes getting things moved around a bit easier though the traffic is always a mess. Textrade is just us doing our thing with fabrics and trading. The office isn't anything fancy, just a room where we keep our files and samples. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just checking through orders that come in. Sometimes the rains make it hard to get to the chawl, but we manage. People stop by, and there’s a lot of noise from the street, but that’s just how it is in Mumbai. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s mostly just a few of us making sure the numbers match and the cloth gets to where it needs to go. Sometimes we stay late when a big shipment is due, and other times it's quiet enough to go home early. It's a practical setup. We've seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but the way we work hasn't changed much. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily load. It’s not always easy, but it is what we do and we’ve been doing it for a long time now.
