We are over at 237 / A in the old Bombay Talkies Comp. in Malad West. It’s an interesting place to work because of the history of the compound, though these days it’s mostly just small businesses like ours. The building we are in is quite old and has that specific look you only find in Malad. It can get a bit damp during the monsoon season, so we have to be careful about where we store things. Our unit isn't very large, but it’s got high ceilings which makes it feel a bit more open. There’s always a lot of activity in the compound, with people moving crates and vans coming in and out of the narrow lanes. Sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze to get a larger vehicle through the gate. We spend our days mostly working on whatever orders have come in that week. It’s a hands-on kind of place, so there’s usually some noise from tools or moving parts. We’ve got a small area where we keep our tools and another spot for the desk work. It’s not fancy by any means. The walls have a few cracks and the floor is worn down from years of use. But it’s a solid place to work and we’ve gotten used to the quirks of the building. Most of our neighbors have been here for years too, so there’s a sense of community in the compound.
