Swayambhu

Swayambhu is over on Veera Desai Road, right in the Azad Nagar 2 area of Andheri East. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot of offices and apartments nearby. Our spot is pretty easy to find if you’re walking down that way. We spend most of our mornings just setting things up, maybe sweeping the front or checking the mail. The road outside is always under some kind of construction or there’s a new truck parked where it shouldn't be. It makes for an interesting view from the window. Inside, the space is just enough for what we do. We don't have any fancy decorations or soft music playing. It’s just the sound of the fans and the noise from the street coming in. We talk to the people who live in the colony and the office workers who pass by on their lunch breaks. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just wait it out, chatting in the dark for a bit. It’s a very local kind of life. We’ve been here long enough that the walls feel familiar. We just focus on the daily tasks, making sure everything is in its place and the doors are open on time. There’s no big secret to it, we just show up at Azad Nagar and get to work until it’s time to lock up and go home.
