Swastik Screen Art

You can find us over at Shraddha Society in Vikhroli West. The address is 152-5/11, and we’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. Sag Vikhroli is a decent area to work in, though the traffic on the main road can be a bit much during the evenings. At Swastik Screen Art, things are usually pretty messy. That’s just the way screen printing is. There are frames leaning against the walls and tubs of ink sitting on the benches. We spend a lot of time cleaning the mesh and making sure the squeegees are sharp. It’s a bit of a process, you know. It’s not just hitting a button on a computer. We actually have to move around and get our hands dirty. The society kids sometimes peek in to see what we are making. It’s mostly just me and a couple of others working here. We have a small radio that plays mostly old songs while we work. The light in the shop is okay, but we had to add some extra bulbs for when we work late. We don’t have a fancy reception area or anything. You just walk in and see us working. Sometimes we have to wait for the ink to dry before we can move the next batch, so we sit outside for a bit of air. We've been here so long that the neighbors don't even mind the smell of the chemicals.
