Swastik Electronics has been a part of Chembur 33 for quite some time now. We aren't one of those big showrooms with bright neon lights and sales guys in suits. It’s just a regular shop where we sell things like televisions, fans, and various household appliances. The space is filled with boxes, and sometimes you have to squeeze past a washing machine to see the mixers. Chembur is a big area, but our corner feels more like a small village where everyone knows each other. We’ve had the same people coming back to buy their home stuff for years. Often, someone will bring in an old radio or a fan that stopped spinning, and we’ll take a look at it to see if it’s worth fixing. We don't try to push the most expensive items on anyone. If a cheap fan works just as well for a small room, that’s what we tell them. The building we are in is a bit old, and the shelves groan a little under the weight of the electronics. It has character, I guess you could say. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here at number 33. We spend our days chatting with customers and making sure the inventory is okay. It’s a steady, quiet way to make a living. There is always something to do, even if it is just dusting the boxes or checking the warranty cards for someone. We just keep things moving.
