Our place is in the heart of the old city, over in Kalbadevi. Specifically, we are on the second floor of a building in Dhabolkar Wadi, in Room Number 15. If you’ve never been to Kalbadevi, it’s a maze of narrow streets and very old buildings. It’s a very traditional area for business in Mumbai. Our office at Swadesh Lifestyle isn’t huge, but it’s where everything happens. We have been here for a bit, and the walls are filled with the history of the place. To get to us, you have to walk through the busy market lanes where people are selling everything you can imagine. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit steep, but you get used to it. Inside, it’s mostly piles of lifestyle products and a couple of desks. We don’t spend much on decor because we are too busy managing the day-to-day tasks. Most of our neighbors are also wholesalers or small traders, so there is a lot of talk about prices and shipments in the hallways. It’s a very grounded way to work. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to do our job well and keep the business running smoothly from this little room in 384-A. The area is crowded and loud, but it feels like the real Mumbai to us. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else because this is where the action is.
