You’ll find Superkino Equipmemts on the second level of the Neela Plastic Building. It’s located on Sonawala X Road No. 2 in Goregaon East. It’s one of those old-school industrial buildings where the stairs are steep and the hallways are a bit dark. We’ve been here for quite a while, and the place is packed to the rafters with all sorts of cinema and projection equipment. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the shelves and spare parts we’ve collected over the years. Moving stuff in and out is a bit of a chore because the road outside is narrow and always has trucks parked along the sides. We usually have to coordinate with the other tenants just to get a van close to the entrance. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of testing equipment and people talking on their mobiles. We don’t have a fancy showroom; if someone wants to see a piece of gear, we just pull it out of a box and set it up on a workbench. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. The staff here knows their stuff, mostly because they’ve been repairing and handling this equipment for years. We eat our lunch at our desks or go down to the small stall at the corner for some vada pav. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We just focus on getting the gear ready and making sure it works.
