Our place is at number 15 in the Rafiq Compound. We are situated right near the Payal Hotel, just off the Western Express Highway in Dahisar East. You can always hear the traffic from the highway, that constant roar of cars and trucks going north or south. The compound itself is a bit industrial, with several different businesses tucked away in different corners. We focus on sports and fitness gear, so the space is usually filled with weights, racks, and various pieces of exercise equipment. It smells a bit like rubber and metal in here, which is what you would expect. We spend a lot of time unboxing new equipment or assembling benches for people. It is a lot of physical labor, moving heavy boxes around and making sure everything is bolted together properly. The light inside the compound isn't the best, so we have some big overhead lamps that keep the workspace bright. During the monsoon, the rain hits the corrugated roof so hard we can barely hear each other talk. We aren't a big corporate chain, just a local shop where we keep the gear organized and help out anyone who wanders in from the highway looking for a specific set of dumbbells or a yoga mat. It’s a straightforward job, and we stay busy from morning until we pull the shutters down at night.
